This quote is how I feel, Kurt--this is what I was trying to tell you but your friend articulated what I could not.

Hey! I'm new to this! I've been living alone too long and I do revisionist self-talk all the time! Even my self-affirmations end up as non sequiturs!

Wow! My first Internet publication! I come off with a false bravado and I want to state for the record that I WAS scared at first. It all happened so quickly and I felt like Polly SweetThing tied to the buzz saw conveyor belt. I wanted to run away from those big, bad adults who were going to do some scarey things to me. But then I realized the problem would still be with me, only getting worse. For several days, a tape loop ran through my head: "I'm one of the cancer people now. I'm one of the cancer people now."
But as I became educated and as treatment commenced and I saw that it was doable, the fear diminished and then evaporated.
SO! I wasn't angry or sad, but I WAS scared! Definitely scared!
